Wife hates new obsession

I have a new obsession. I know I am probably the last one to get satellite television, but I love it. I am aware it has become an obsession, but it is just so wonderful. The directtv channel lineup is amazing and so easy to access. The show variety is fabulous and there is always a sports game on. I think my wife is really starting to be annoyed by this obsession. Before we had satellite, we would spend a lot of time doing puzzles, playing games or just talking about whatever. Now, the first thing I want to do is watch television and the last thing I want to do is watch television. Hopefully she understands that it is something new and it will eventually wear off, but I think she just misses the quality time together. I will eventually make it up to her, but I am enjoying the newness of the television to worry about it right now. I am sure that sounds a little heartless, but imagine if you were introduced to satellite for the first time. What would you be doing?

Family Weekend

The wifey and I took the kids to the Space & Rocket Center last Saturday it was a fund day for four of us! Just some of the photos that wife took while she's enjoying taking pictures of everything, our boy and I are having the time of our life because the place is definitely a manly thingy all kinds of rockets, spacecrafts, missile from small to huge they even have the spaceship simulator that you can try! Wish i could try the feeling of outer space but it just that if you have a passed injuries you are not allow to enter, too bad i had one in the list! My poor neck, haha. Anyway, my wife wanted to do so but kiddos won't allow her either but needless to say we had a great and fantastic quality time up there! Sure we will be coming back next year! Art schools in Florida

My wife and I have been thinking of enrolling our kids to art school. She likes our son to learn piano and ballet for the little girl. I think that would be cool and special. Talents need to be develop in an early age. Did you know there are cultural and art schools in Florida? that's pretty famous worldwide. When our kids grow up, and maybe that time we'll be moving to Florida already, we can send them to those schools and have them the best training only the experts can offer. Looking forward this coming spring, would be enrolling them to art classes. My wife is more excited about it!

Pursue a course that's long been over-due. I mean, at collage I really wanted to take up interior design. My brother is architect and looking at him designing buildings and houses gives me the inspiration to develop whatever creative talent I have, lol! Perhaps a talent or a degree of interior design would be online for this project, too. I have in mind. Am really looking forward to design my dream house in the future. Anyway, those are just my thoughts. Still unaware when it would be possible though. If ever that time comes, at least I know where to find online universities that's willing to provide such knowledge.

I guess am old but at least young at heart, haha! Pretty sure you are all familiar with this addicting games of Angry Birds. Well my wife, 2 kids and I are hooked on this lately we're done played the entire levels of the other AB sequel/version so i just got this angry birds Rio for us to play. I tell you it is fun and enjoyable specially when you know the trick and strategies on how to target it right! Very funny as well your family and you won't get bored. HAHA!

Did you know some online universities offer carpentry and shop classes?) Been thinking about it because as you know i am a handyman, a carpenter by trade. Ever since i could remember I'm really into it and had been given great feedback from my clients for years. Wife advice maybe I could take up short courses on carpentry so to learn even more skills and techniques. As what my dad said, there's so much to learn. The carpentry work is so diverse and requires a lot of training and knowledge. Just being proud of myself is great achievement. Seeing my creations and finished products, I know i got a long way to go and the knowledge I've got would be a legacy to my son.

In need of inspiration, sometimes I think about looking into a diesel (or other kinds of)
mechanic schools. Not for me though but for my wife's brother my brother in-law in the Philippines. Wife and I agree the we like him to take up short courses that would develop more skills so he'll be more capable of different kind of jobs. I still don't know if he's interested but as I remember, we've talked about it before. Well, it's such a good thing to acquire knowledge on vast areas. My sister absolutely loves watching Modern Family. We use our http://www.directstartv.com/ to watch it every Wednesday night. I have not been as into it as she is, but I definitely still enjoy it. She cracks up every episode. In fact, she laughs so loud it scares me sometimes if I am upstairs and do not realize what she is watching. Usually with TV series, every episode is not just as good as the last or next. With this show, I think my sister would say every episode is just as good as another. I could not explain to you why I am not as excited about the show as she is, but I still enjoy it. The characters on the show are all so eccentric and different. I think that is what makes good TV shows anyway. Every character has an odd habit or quirk. When you put that many quirky people one show, it really makes a show more entertaining. A lot of the shows I have enjoyed are like that. They have weird characters that get stuck in these awkward moments.

The color

This is what i wanted to do to my truck color wise. The wife keep asking me to colored it red and i also wanted different color other than red so just to give her request i decided to combined the red with black since we both agree on it i can not wait. I think it is really cool don't you think? The inside would be just black. I am getting anxious to get my truck done next year. Right now i am in a process of getting the parts and stuff like that because I'll personally overhauling it!

Is my next project to make for the lady i work right now when she saw the improving cabinets she's so empress and wanting me to do more in her house like kitchen bar, the vanities and another cabinets for upstairs! Isn't it funny while watching old photos we didn't realize we were making memories, we thought we're just having fun. Pictures are powerful indeed. It preserves memories through the years and makes us remember of all the things behind a photograph. That's why I like taking photos a lot, saved in the computer though. Been thinking of printing them for films I think are still the best. I'd like to include old photos from our childhood years as well. So I told the handyman to hand me all his old pictures but since most of it are really old, the quality isn't so nice already.

My client is so empress when she came by to my shop yesterday to check on her ongoing cabinets that i am building. They're made of real walnut woods and it very beautiful the color of the walnuts makes even nicer it's kinda reddish color on it really stands out! Well, It's been almost 3 weeks already that I'm working on this project and did pretty good and faster than i expected making more times you know. But i have lots of finishing to do still sealing and smoothing them. Glad the wife offer for her help. Actually not just the client were so empress, as well everyone that seeing it they said i have to have my own site and be full time on building cabinets and stuff like that i honestly enjoying my thing. And i am thinking about it actually.

The handy man is so busy with the big job that's currently on going. Just finished the cabinets and now up on the next phased for the whole kitchen makeover. The wife is lending her hand and been very good providing assistance in clearing coats to seal the wood. It's nice to work on projects like this one because it serves as a bonding time for us as well. Getting excited to see everything done as what the client wants it to be. Then would be doing the installation hopefully next week. Will be needing digital multimeter then, to test the voltage, current, and resistance. It requires precision to install kitchen appliance so that everything will be fine and functional. I'm just so happy to be part of this huge project. Working with our own hands gives satisfaction and fulfillment after seeing the product. Much more is to see the client's happy face after seeing the whole thing.

I guess I was naïve when I thought business school would prepare me to run my own business effectively…it didn’t. I had a lot to learn but I didn’t even know it and there was a pretty steep learning curve when I first started working in this industry. It didn’t take me long to catch on to some things but the more logistical, organizational stuff I still struggle with to this day. I had to learn all about bank-card-processing.com and tax laws and human resources certifications and I’ve had to do the accounting all by myself which is terrifying – what if I make a big mistake? At the end of the day I think things will all work out but if I had a chance I’d go back and add a few classes to my lineup during the business school years to better prepare me for what the real world would be like. I guess I just never knew there were so many things to think about when you became an entrepreneur by yourself!

These are the things that i specialized with, doing customized cabinets, doors, beds and all kinds of furniture name it i can do it! haha. I love this kind of work where in i can just use my own time and be proud of. I just had finished my daughter's bed and right now. A client of mine wants her kitchen to be customized with simple cabinets so i have some lists of style where she can pick what she likes. Busy weeks ahead of me but it's good money though.

It's a Chevelle car that caught my attention at the car show we had here in town. Look at the motor, cool isn't it?? I love vintage cars and stuff like that. Actually my 1973 Chevy truck has a motor that is cool also that i personally created. I like the sound and how it runs just a little fixing here and there that i am looking forward to do in time soon.

Being a father to two wonderful children is such a blessing. I'm constantly busy with work but making sure I get to spend time with them everyday. We do things together like watching movies at night and play outdoors during weekends. My wife and I would read them books as well. It's important for them to learn to love reading at their early age.

By the way, there's a cool way to read books today. Heard about Castle Builder? A company that specializes in the development of imaginative products for children, such as books and videos. I just got a big job to do pretty soon a woman close to our town hired me to do her kitchen cabinets not just installing it but planning the designs and everything for one a half weeks of job i probably get 3K for the job! Great isn't it? I love this kind of job and i am excited as much she does for her new kitchen look. Yesterday we had an arrangements and i will give her the estimated cost for everything she requested for her new kitchen cabinets. Gonna be a long weeks ahead of me!

Garage work

I think this will be perfect garage floor for my parents garage. My mom is complaining about the garage floor paint the adhesive we put is sticking badly to the hot wheels of the vehicle and that they're not liking it! So 2 days now i am trying to find the right replacement for the floor and i found this G-floor diamond pattern. It is heavy duty and high grade installer material. Slip resistant, help protect the concrete to deteriorate and moisture barriers and a lot more! Perfect for their garage! Busy fixing it today just taking a break and going to proceed in just a minute! This is the princess bed i just made for my little girl although it's still missing some pieces i will definitely finish it soon i plan to get it done today since it's holiday (labor day). Actually it was really easy and i did a great job on it! Was my first time made a bed that lots of details! My wife will be the final touch she will put some blings to really look like a castle. Our girl is fascinated of princess's right now so she has her ear to ear smile with her new character bed.

The very first alarm system we ever had was basic to say the least. It would only let us know if the door had been opened. It is amazing how much technology has changed since then. My dad got a new toy for his outdoors activities he loves gardening, planting and all that kind of stuff! So do i, i consider myself as a green thumbs man, haha! Why? obviously when you have a green thumb they said you are good in planting anything you can think of and the plants you get along very well. Anyway, the toy he got is a tractor with several attachments to it. Since every year dad has his huge garden in his backyard to work on and i am usually helping them to cultivate it as much as we could regularly along with my wife. I enjoyed riding it yesterday i get my job done faster!

Hey how's it going? As always, been busy with a lot of things taking place. Had a recharged though this passed weekend, family time is always the best. Glad to have finished my daughter's princess bed. Like her mom, she's been in love with princess stuff from dresses to shoes, and so forth. So I thought of making a customized bed for her, a castle-like crib with a crown on the middle. My wife did the room makeover, decorated it with lots of pink stuff. She also did some painting, lending her hand to the handy man. We also did some repairs, as you know I remake a door for my shed at the back. Made some fixing, move the tractor, replaced old led lighting, and the list goes on. Speaking of led lights, my wife got them from Bulb America, the largest lightning distributor in town. Lots of pretty good deals I must say and quality products too more importantly.

Shed Renovation

Today was a fine day for me and family. I was busy the entire afternoon trying to remake a door for my shed at back. The loan mower i have has to move on there since my dad planned to get a tractor on Monday for our personal use my mower stayed on his storage garage for quite awhile and it's time to transfer because of the tractor we are getting. So anyway, i was tired and exhausted for doing such work without a hand., whew! but it's alright i guess i managed it good after awhile my sweet wife offer to paint the door so she finished her last touch and the shed is back to use again. Good day everyone, how are you doing? Been busy as always with work and other things. Still finding time to relax though, just went to the Aquarium on Saturday with the family and t'was great! That's what I like most about weekend because we can just unwind and bond with the kids. As I mentioned before, my wife is into photography and she's got lots of beautiful shots. Always keeping her camera in handy during our bonding, am just proud of her.

Lately my wife and I have been looking and searching for a house in Florida because the plans still on going that sooner or later we are gonna move for good there. We all love the sun shine state and living there is a good idea. So am busy here fixing stuff that needs to be done before the prospective buyers see the property. It was almost as same time last year when we had our SLR camera. The wife was of course very happy and excited about the whole idea. Now, I just love looking at her photography! So proud to see her pictures! Now that the sun is shining bright and the kids are always outdoors, she keeps the camera in handy to capture moments and smiles. This are the things that keeps me busy now a days although tax season was over but the hectic schedules seems never end on my part. We only have 2days rest after the last day of tax then here goes the long days again. Anyway, two weeks ago i fixed our kitchen and extra room floors by tiling them up, the wife is so happy about me doing tiles she said it makes her life easy i mean cleaning wise, lol! Am a proud daddy to my 3 and 10 months old son. For the first time he was able to write his name with out practicing the letters first. Although his mama had to bribe him for candy, it works because he really tried hard to write them on a paper..lol! Momshe said "you can have candies as long you write all 6 letters each of it is equivalent to one mnm" without any arguments son said alright! One thing though he got 5 candies out of 6 because mommy can't accept the letter A for now, haha not bad at-least. That's so funny, kids will be kids they will do their best for something they want. Well, for his age we are all proud of him, everyone are so impressed by him! Way to go son.

My husband Richard and I have spent a lot of time home lately. We usually try and get out in the community as much as possible, but recently it feels like we've been glued to our living room. Richard and I have turned our living room into the ultimate home theater experience. We have speakers all over the room, we have a large HD TV that we found on Black Friday, and we've even purchased new reclining chairs. We have an array of snacks and a lot of popcorn, and ever since Black Friday, it's like we've been going to the movie theater in our own home. It's fantastic.

The other day, I picked up a new pair of Digital Hearing Aids from down town, and I can't get over how clear my hearing is. I am enjoying the television more than other! Since Richard and I have created an ideal home cinema, we've been renting a lot of movies, as well. We have had a decent mix of new and old and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. With such a great entertainment system, no we really have to think hard about what else to get each other for the holidays.

Yet, Whit does not always listen and she often lets Kelly down. The thing is Kelly knows what she is talking about thanks to her years of experience in the industry. She is not the prettiest of creatures but, she makes up for hew own lack of personal fashion to help those who have creative visions make it in a difficult world of editors and established luxury designers or brands. While she is often mean and yelling at dumb and clueless people, she will give the shirt off her back to a select few. She can see the potential and ability in people who may be overlooked. This is part of the reason of her success- her ability to know when and where to lay it on thick. Kelly would not be half the person she is in fashion could she not.

My Philippine Adventure

My family and I went for a vacation to Philippines, my wife's hometown. I had a wonderful experienced over there once again it was my third time to to this beautiful country of my lovely wife! It is our happiest moment and am happy to see our family there. We spent all times with them, we went to one of the beautiful resort that Philippines has to offer tourism wise! I love being able to watch my favorite true crime tv show, Cold Case Files. It's on 7 days a week where I live and I'm able to catch it on my lunch hour!

I usually tune into my tv satellite to watch this great show. Cold Case Files is narrated and shows recreations of the crimes and crime scenes involved in the story. Many of the cases are old cases from when I was younger and I can remember them when they happened. They explain the crime, talk about the witness and interview the police involved in the old case and the new reopened case. The best part, however, is when they show how new technology can help solve older crimes. DNA testing, forensic testing and medical teams are all part of how these older cases get solved.

The show also lets you get to know the victims or victims family, and lets the viewer see how the solving of the crime gives the family some peace. The show always has a positive outcome, even though a crime had been committed.

Been a long day

Woke up with head hurts and some sore here and there i told my wife it's gonna be a long day for me but she always encourage me to just relax and take things easy. Even though i had a bad hair day since this morning we manage to went to the meeting and enjoy seeing our bothers and sisters in faith in the hall. Then we headed home after a nice lunch at Mexican resto with my wife and kiddos. I never get a chance to rest though, i went to the office to get things done before our trip! There's printing job needs to be done and am glad i finished it today. And lastly i had to mowed our yard before the weeds get 10 feet tall haha kidding aside. So far so good that even i don't feel very good today i still manage to get things done. Oh well, time to go now and have a good evening!

In the early 90s, the Florida Gators were known for their high-powered offense and consistent winning. They had a great rivalry with the FSU Seminoles, who also had a good offense, but were more balanced at the time. In the end, it turned out that FSU was more successful. However, since that time, FSU has lost its credibility as a college football powerhouse. The same had happened to Florida for a while, but luckily, they changed that a few years ago. Once Tim Tebow was running the offense, they went from a marginal squad to an outstanding one. For three years, the dominated college football. It was similar to watching the New England Patriots of the early 2000s. The Gators would score at will and defend when necessary. And I got to see it all on my tv that I got from one of the satellite tv companies near Denver.

If you follow college football, then you know that last season had a slightly disappointing ending. Okay, slightly might be an understatement, but at least we were champions twice prior to that. How many teams around the league can say that? I have to admit, though, I fear the future. With Tebow gone to the Denver Broncos - with one of the oddest rookie haircuts in history - what will happen to Florida's offense? Even though I'm a Gators fan, I'll give you a hint - it will be a shadow of its former self.

In the extremely digital and technological world we live in things sometimes seem as if they are within a fingers reach. This is absolutely true! The internet makes life so much easier for so many people that it may seem like a fairy tale at times. The internet has improved the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of people who though they are at the end of their ropes. People who couldn't juggle life, school, and work found they now had an option. The end wasn't near, the beginning had just re-entered their lives.

I was one of these people that thought it was over. Being diagnosed with arthritis was a very damaging and terrible thing to have happen. I found it hard to even work and 8 hour shift, sometimes a 6 hour shift was pushing it at times. I did not want to take pain medicine because it aggravated my ADD and made me crazy. I ended up quitting my job and working completely on the internet. I discovered that instead of using my DSL or cable internet, that broadband internet and tv was far better! Now I go to school and work on the internet! My life improved ten-fold and my body no longer hurts. The internet is the best thing that ever came into my life, and I appreciate every minute of it.

Building

Hi there! This is what I've been doing presently building our house addition. So far so good we started the construction 2nd week of July and right now we are about to finish the thing just a little fixing here and there. My brother and brother in law are the people who help me building and do the stuff, Don my BIL is doing the electrical stuff meanwhile my brother is mostly the shingles he is good with the roofing. And yours truly is the one making sure everything is on its proper place haha! My wife and I also trying to get stuff for the dining area and my office also, most of the idea we both come it together such like the floorings, paints and borders. Shela my wife love her chandelier! Anyway, pretty soon building is over! She can't wait for that! These are photos randomly taken during the period of constructing the house addition. Will keep you posted as the job done soon.

File Extension PSD

Ok, the next file extension I am discussing is the File Extension PSD. It is an Adobe Photoshop Image that is layered. The layers enable an illustration to be built with individual graphic elements that can be moved over and over to obtain a desired result. I am sure almost everyone has heard of Adobe Photoshop. I have used several different programs for use in photo editing and the PSD format is one of the main formats of Photoshop and it is popular because it can be read by Macintosh and Windows computers.

File Extension PSD, as a file designated to PhotoShop, takes up less memory space than TIFF files that are uncompressed. Image editors that have the ability to read file extension PSD are Adobe PhotoShop, Corel PhotoPaint as well as Corel PhotoPaint Pro and Ulead PhotoImpact. PSD is the default, and the only file format, besides the Large Document Format (PSB), that supports most Photoshop features. So, for anyone that does any kind of photo or image editing, the PSD format is a great one to use, if you can. Enjoy!

My baby girl!

As most of you may know, we finally had our baby girl 3 weeks ago. Her name is Alexha Josilee Finney and she was 8lb's 2.8oz, 18 3/4 inches long and she has alot of hair! Our son Josh loves to tickle her feet too, haha. We have been slowly adjusting to life here at home with another member to our little family. Things have been going well too as both mama and baby are doing good. Sheila is getting around alot better now that she isn't hurting so much. I truly love her strength and I know that having another baby isn't easy, but she is handling it very well. I am glad too that Josh isn't jealous of her, as that helps us alot. Hello all! Are you ready for another File Extension? Yeah, I thought so. Ok, here it is. Today, we will learn about File extension KML. KML is most commonly used to refer to a Keyhole Markup Language file. KML files are primarily used to store geographical information in a standard XML format which is used by Google Earth.

Keyhole Markup Language was originally created by a software company called Keyhole Inc for use with Keyhole Earth Viewer, which later became Google Earth. The file extension KML format was developed specifically to store geographical information and annotations which could be overlaid on maps. KML files contain a longitude and latitude as well as place markers, polygon shapes, images and text which can be used to illustrate or label a specific place or area on a map. Additional information, such as camera angle and altitude as well as linked textured 3D objects can also be stored for use with 3D earth browsing software. KML files allow developers to create customized layers of information which can be overlaid on existing maps for illustration or abstraction purposes.

File extension KML has been an open standard for use in geographical browsers, and is currently used by a number of websites and applications including Google Earth, Google Maps, Microsoft Virtual Earth, Earths Ector GIS and Geomedia among others. Just in case you were wondering, XML is a document creation language developed to replace HTML and provide more structure to documents and we all know HTML is a language for creating web pages. Two surgeons in a Paris hospital have performed the first successful open-heart surgery in year 1999 using a computer-controlled robot, reports the French newspaper Le Figaro. Six operations were performed, including a coronary bypass. The method involves operating through a one-and-a-half-inch [4 cm] incision. Sitting at a console several feet from the patient, the surgeons look inside the patient’s body by means of a camera and use two joysticks to direct the robot’s arm movements. Because the computer reduces the surgeons’ movements by three to five times, the surgery is more precise and less invasive. Another advantage is that the patient experiences less pain during recovery. Now adays medical procedures are getting more and more high tech and wide spread. We will continuously see more discoveries about our technology today and in the future.

File Extension AMR...

Ok, the last file extension I am curious about and discussing is the File Extension AMR. This is another one I had no idea about, so I did some research on it is short for Adaptive Multi-Rate and is a patented audio compression optimized for speech encoding. File Extension AMR is also a file format for storing spoken audio using the AMR codec. Many modern mobile telephone handsets will allow you to store short recordings in the AMR format. Programs exist to convert between this and other formats such as MP3, although it should be remembered that AMR is a speech format and is unlikely to give ideal results for other audio like music.

It is a little technical, but the usage of AMR requires optimized link adaptation that selects the best codec mode to meet the local radio channel and capacity requirements. If the radio conditions are bad, source coding is reduced and channel coding is increased. This improves the quality and robustness of the network connection while sacrificing some voice clarity. The new intelligent system allows the network operator to prioritize capacity or quality per station. AMR was adopted as the standard speech codec by 3GPP, which I already mentioned a little.

The File Extension 3g2

Ok Their is another file extension I will talk about it's the File Extension 3g2. If you are like me, you probably haven't heard of this one before. I was really curious when I saw it. I had to clue what it was for. 3GP or File Extension 3g2 is a simplified version of the MP4 format, designed to accommodate cell phones. There are two different standards for this format:

• 3GPP (for GSM-based Phones, may have filename extension .3gp)
• 3GPP2 (for CDMA-based Phones, may have filename extension .3g2)

3GP or File Extension 3g2 is a usually for use on 3G cell phones but can also be played on some 2G and 4G phones. When transferred to a computer, 3GP movies can be viewed on Linux, Mac and Windows with Media Player RealPlayer or QuickTime. Some cell phones use the .mp4 extension for 3GP video.

Well, I hope this helps a little and gives you a little info about this file type. A lot more cell phones are 3G now, so you will probably see it in the future. Enjoy!!

Personal Update

Hello all! I hope everyone is doing fine. As you may know, I am preparing to be a father again. We only have a week or two to go, maybe less, who knows!! Sheila has a doctors appointment tomorrow and an ultrasound and if the doctor isn't happy with what he sees, he may schedule her for tomorrow or one day this week. It's getting pretty exciting and scary at the same time as we don't know what to expect. We are hoping for the best and have alot of support from family and friends, so we are truly blessed to have such people in our lives.

We have been getting my son Joshua's new room done too. My sister painted his room light green on the bottom with a sky blue above it and on the ceiling. It also has a wallpaper border where the 2 colors meet. It's little baby animals like zebras, tigers, monkeys, etc. It looks really cute. Should last him several years to come. I hope everyone, enjoys my little bits of knowledge and little notes. Take care!!

Shop for Electronics?

Hello everyone! In case you guys love to shop for little gadgets and such like me, you'll want to check out SHOP.com. They are having a sale on their gadgets like MP3 players, memory cards, game consoles, GPS receivers, laptops and digital cameras. I have 3 favorites of these. One is the mp3 player, because who doesn't like to carry music around with them on a small little music player. I remember the days when we had to carry a big radio around to play our music on. Now they have these small digital players that can hold a large amount of songs. So shop MP3 Players now!

My 2nd is the GPS receiver. For those of you who don't know what this are, it is basically small device that locates and tells the computer where in the world that you are. It is great for driving somewhere because it tells you what street you are on and in case you need directions, how to get there, turn by turn. Very cool indeed!

My 3rd choice would have to be the digital camera. I know everyone these days has a camera and chances are it is a digital one. Remember the old film style ones? The ones you had to advance after each picture and then have the roll developed. Now all you do is use a little SD card memory card that plugs right in. Most of the DC cards are big enough to hold hundreds of photos. Can't do that with the old style ones. Also, if you take a bad picture, just erase it and take another. No wasted film!! They have huge selection of digital camera sale right now and you can choose the brands you like.

CJ Component Products LLC

I found an interesting site today while browsing around. It's called CJ Component Products, LLC at cjcomponents.com. They have all sorts of things there that are used in the Army and such. Here in Tullahoma, we have a base and they do a lot of testing and things. I found it interesting because of the handsets and things they have, that are really made well and even used by the Army. Here are a few that I found interesting.

The first is the H60/PT Handset, which is just the standard, tough, repairable handset used on telephone and radio communication systems. It is designed for extreme environmental conditions which is great, because you can use it anywhere.

The second one is the Crypto Handset which I thought was really cool, because it Encrypts the signal, which basically means that it scramble's the signal so nobody can intercept it.

The last one is the group of Tactical Handset's, which includes the H60/PT. They have several models to choose from. Each is a little different. Several are waterproof and they are all battle field proven, so that means that they can take a beating. They are also repairable which is great just it case something happens to it and some have a wider frequency response range.

So, pretty much, they have just about any kind of handset you would need, if you happened to be looking for one thats built tough and fully repairable. Take a look and see what they got.

Engine Rebuilding

Soon, I am going to partially rebuild and repaint the engine in my 1972 Chevy truck. I have been buying a few parts here and there and I am finally close to doing it. The reason I am rebuilding it is mainly for more power. I use it alot for pulling heavy loads like tractors and such, so more power is a really good thing, as it doesn't stress the motor and transmission parts as much. The main part of the engine is the cylinder block (middle picture) which actually makes the power by burning a mix of gas and air in a combustion chamber (the cylinder). The piston goes down pulling in more air/fuel mixture and then going up to compress and ignite the gases, thus causing an explosion which creates power. On top of the block are cylinder heads (left picture) that have 2 valves for each cylinder. In my case, it is a V8 or 8 cylinders. These valves have a simple job of opening and closing to let in air/fuel mixture and let burnt gases out. There is a intake valve and an exhaust valve which are opened and closed with a spring. This spring is compressed by a piece called a rocker arm which "rocks" back and forth on top of the valve and a piece called a pushrod. Another main part of the cylinder block is the camshaft (right picture), which has several raised spots that push a lifter up and down, which pushes the pushrod and all of that makes the valves open and close. It sounds complicated, but it is actually pretty simple when you see it operate. Basically, as the camshaft turns, it causes the valves to open and close.

The cylinder heads that I bought are called Vortec's and they are some of the best ones you can buy for a chevy truck. They are really good for making power because the way the head is made is very good for allowing the air/fuel mixture to get into the cylinders faster and more efficiently, thus making for more power. A turbo charger works in a similar way, but it forces the air/fuel mix into the cylinders very quickly. Also, the cooler the mix is, the more power you can get, because it is denser and burns better. On top of the cylinder heads is called the intake manifold. It's job is to funnel the air/fuel mix into the cylinder heads. Some brands are better than others becuase they can get the mix into the heads faster and more effieciently also. If you are looking for more power at a slower speed, then you want a "Dual Plane" intake manifold. It is actually a 2 (two) level intake, splitting off for each cylinder. A "Single Plane" intake manifold is better for higher speeds and it is just a 1 (one) level manifold which mixes all together and then is pulled into each cylinder. One of the most important pieces is the carburetor or fuel injection system. It is the one that actually mixes the air and fuel together. If the mix isn't right, the engine will not run as good. So, all of the parts of the engine must run in harmony with each other in order to get the most power out of it. My sister in need!

The other day my sister stopped at my house early in the morning. She was on her way to a friends house that lived about an hour from where she lives. When she pulled up, I noticed her van was wrecked in the front! She was following a car too close and the car suddenly stopped and she hit them. It did at least $1000 in damage! She has 3 daughters and her husband doesn't know how to to much auto repair, so she asked if I could help her. Naturally, I said "Of course, you are family!" Her radiator cap had been broken off and the radiator, transmission cooler and the A/C condenser had all been sandwiched together and bowed back like a smiley face. It broke her bumper cover ,passenger side headlight and both electric cooling fans were busted and hitting the alternator. Fortunately, it was just pushed against it and didn't hurt the engine at all.

We searched around for parts and found a few used cooling fans from a junkyard for about $100. The other parts were about as cheap new as the used ones, so we got the new ones. The bumper cover and other parts totalled about $700-$800. Several parts came from Ebay and were just like the original parts, which is sometimes the best way to go, unless it is a performance part. But, for a van, it's not needed. Anyways, when all the parts finally arrived, I started putting the pieces of her van back together. Vans are a little harder to work on, because everything is so packed into the front, that makes it very tight on working room. After everything was put back together, the coolant and transmission fluid was added and was tested for leaks while the engine was running. The bumper cover came as a black primer, so I found some cans of spray paint at Advance Auto Parts that matched the original color, which was a goldish color. The paint is actually made for touch ups, but 4-5 of the small cans was enough to finish the bumper cover pretty well. In a day or so, I'll put the clearcoat on to give it the shine. The new headlight still needed a little adjusting to match the old one. They just have a screw usually that moves them up and down. It's easiest to do it at night while the lights are shining on a wall or garage door, that way both headlights are the same level. After all of that, the van was taken to an A/C man to have the A/C recharged and refilled with the oil, which was another $110. She has her van back now and she is glad to have it back. I am glad to be done with it also!! On to my next project, haha!

Music - God's Gift To The Heart

Music has power. It can calm us, stir us and lift our spirits. It can express both our joys and our sorrows. Common to virtually all cultures, past and present. Music is a language of both the mind and the heart. Yes, music truly is a gift from God. From the time we were born, we likely heard some form of music. Perhaps our mother sang lullabies to help us fall asleep. During our teenage years, we may have developed a fondness for music that stirred our heart. Even as adults, many of us enjoy relaxing music while driving or at home, at the end of a busy day. The lyrics of a song may embody certain aspects of a country's culture of history.

All of us can make music by means of our voice. Thanks to the versatility of this built-in instrument, nearly everyone can make music, to some extent, with or without other instruments. All you have to do is open your mouth and sing. When you do, do not pay attention whether or not your singing voice will win you and prizes or cheers. If you practice, you should improve. The voice is directly in contact with the seat from which our deepest emotions spring, and it is the most efficient instrument for expressing them. Singing is exciting and I would recommend that anyone who feels like expressing himself or herself, to do so freely and spontaneously. Because music can have a powerful influence on the heart, we should be selective. Beautiful melodies, for instance, may sugarcoat ugly lyrics that make light of or even promote hatred, immorality or even violence. Our choices of music is no minor matter. Let us all enjoy music and all of it's many forms!

Termite Mound Ventilation

Was it designed??

Termite mounds have been called marvels of engineering, and for good reason. These imposing structures, made of soil and saliva, can stand as high as 20 feet. Their 18 inch walls are baked by the sun until they are as hard as concrete. Some mounds have literally been built overnight.

Near the center of the mound resides the queen, which may lay several thousand eggs each day. Wingless and blind "worker termites" carry off the eggs to specially constructed cells. There they care for the larvae as they hatch. Perhaps the greatest marvel of the mound, though, is it's ventilation system.

Consider this:

A series of chambers and galleries keep the interior of the mound at a constant temperature, despite varying conditions outside. For example, in Zimbabwe, Africa, the outside temperature can fluctuate from 35 degrees Fahrenheit at night to over 100 degrees during the day. Yet, the temperature inside the mound remains constant at 87 degrees. Why?

Strategically placed ventilation holes at the bottom of the mound allow fresh air to enter, while hot stale air is forced out the top. Cooler air enters the mound from an underground chamber and the air circulates through the passages and cells. Termites open and close the holes to adjust the temperature as needed. A constant temperature is essential in order for the termites to farm the fungus that is their primary food.

So impressive is the design of the termite mound that a similar technology was employed by the architects of an office building in Zimbabwe. The building uses just 10 percent of the energy required by conventional buildings of the same size.

Finally, My Cube Case is Done!

Well, I finally finished my cube computer case and it turned out really good I think. There's always a few things you wish you would have done differently, but it's all good! Temperatures are running pretty good for a SLI setup, about 35-40 degrees celcius. Having two video cards put out alot of heat but the front fans are doing a nice job. I love the fact that everything is open and easy to work on. My old mid-tower case was just so cramped and cluttered. This cube case is almost like have 2 mid-towers side by side. It's pretty good size, but worth it! Cya later!!

A Work in Progress- Part 2

Still working on my cube case and it is starting to look really good.
I decided to make it a 16 inch X 16 inch (inside measurement) cube, in order to fit everything and have good airflow.

I recently started building my own computer case. It's called a PC Cube because it is shaped like one, as in square, haha. A typical tower computer can only hold a certain amount of fans to keep it cool, unless you spend alot for a special one. A cube case is divided up into 2 sections so that the half that holds the motherboard stays cooler. The other side holds the drives and power supply. I will post more pictures as I do moew work on it. I decided to use some plywood and wood pieces that I had laying around. I still have the sides and top to make and fill in all the imperfections. Once done, I will let dry and sand it smooth. Then I am going to paint it a High Gloss Black. The side facing the motherboard will have a window showing the motherboard and all it's goodness. Why not show it off right??

Whenever you build your own, you either have to use parts from another case or you can buy the parts online at a case parts supplier. I bought my aluminum motherboard tray at a play called Performance-PCs.com. It was about $25.00 which is a really good price. I also got some other supplies at mnpctech.com. They offer some really interesting case modding supplies. If you do a search for case modding supplies, you can find a number of sites with what you need. A site called Mountain Mods has some cases similar to what I am making, but they are all aluminum and the cost between $250 and $500!! That's why I am making my own, alot cheaper! Besides, I can say that I made it, so that adds alot to the coolness factor!

My New Computer

My wife's computer kept locking up on her and getting hot, so I ordered the parts for a new computer and gave her the one I was using. She had an old Intel Pentium 4 running at 2Ghz. That's not a bad CPU for office stuff, but it was getting some age to it. I upgraded her to an AMD X2-3800, which is an AMD Dual Core CPU running at 2.4Ghz. Dual Core means that there are actually 2 CPU's running on the same chip. It allows you to do alot more things at one time and it doesn't slow your computer down. Usually, I have found AMD to be far better than Intel in alot of ways. Intel has their good points, but in my opinion, AMD is hands down the way to go. My new system is an AMD X2-6000 Dual Core, running at 3.0Ghz. It may not look alot faster, but it really is. It has 2Gig of memory, 2-160Gig Hard Drives. One hard drive is for Windows XP and the other is my backup drive for my music and movies. I am current using an Nvidia 7900GS video card which does a good job with most graphics applications like games and photo editing. I am looking at getting a second one for about $30 which will give me a SLI graphics computer. SLI means the 2 video cards are actually linked together to really help with games and graphics intensive applications, as long as they support SLI. I'll see how they work together. My main computer board is an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe. I usually buy all of my computer parts at Newegg.com as they usually have the best prices and they have the shortest shipping times. Whenever you are building your own computer, just make sure everything is compatible with each other and take your time doing it. Do plenty of research and just have fun. Always remember that computer components are sensitive to static, so always touch something metal BEFORE touching them. I am posting a pic of my main board so you can see what I got.

Experience is Key

I have done alot of things in my life and I am only 35. Hopefully, I will live many more years and add to my knowledge of things. I started out after High School working for a construction company in Manchester, TN and one day they decided they needed to let some people go. So, once again I was looking for a job. Next I found myself working at a plumbing and electrical supply store/wharehouse. I did the deliveries and all of the shipping/receiving of the merchandise there. Needless to say, I was really busy there! I gained alot of experience from working construction and working with plumbing/electrical supplies. Eventually I ended up building houses for a living. Ever since I was in my teens, my Dad has been working with computers and I would help him alot, so I have also been working with computers (hardware and software), since then and still do. Of course, we also like to build things for around the home, like tables, desks, entertainment centers, kitchen cabinets, etc. I have gained alot of knowledge from doing things like this. One thing that has helped me is knowing that if you really want to learn how to do something, just keep trying until you are good at it. Never say you CAN"T do something, it's just because you don't know how. YOU have the power to change that.
